At IIDA Virginia/West Virginia, we advocate for the recognition, advancement, and protection of the interior design profession across our two states. We believe interior designers play an essential role in creating spaces that support the health, safety, and well-being of the people who use them. We work to ensure that interior designers have a voice in the policies and legislation that shape our profession. Through legislative awareness, industry collaboration, and member engagement, we monitor issues that impact interior design practice and licensure in Virginia and West Virginia.

IIDA Virginia/West Virginia advocates for the recognition and advancement of the interior design profession and supports legislation that protects the public while strengthening the profession.

WHO IS MY LEGISLATOR

Virginia

Virginia currently regulates interior design through a Title Act, allowing qualified professionals to use the title “Certified Interior Designer.” The designation is overseen by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).
Protecting this recognition is important to maintaining professional standards and ensuring qualified interior designers are recognized for their expertise. As Virginia continues to evaluate occupational licensing requirements, IIDA VAWV advocates for preserving the professional recognition and regulation of interior design in the Commonwealth.
